Summary Provides instruction in selected areas of Computer Science, (to ensure that students gain appropriate knowledge and skills about the industry and are prepared for a career and post-secondary opportunities Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on state and local curriculum through a combination of classroom, laboratory, and co-curricular experiences Provides community-based instruction and projects based on program guidelines and requirements Provides leadership opportunities for students by establishing a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO), i.e. FBLA, SkillsUSA or TSA as a co-curricular instructional tool within the classroom Manages and maintains program facilities and equipment Adheres to all state guidelines required for the implementation of a successful program Provides classroom environment which promotes active learning in subject area Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, school and county leadership Accounts for student attendance and punctuality Follows all county, state, and federal policies and procedures Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities Attends school and District-level professional learning activities as directed Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent Seeks and maintains professional learning opportunities through State endorsed professional organizations. i.e., ACTE, GACTE. Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator Required Education Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited institution accepted by GaPSC Certification/Licensure Must hold a GaPSC certification in Computer Science FLD [789] or FLD [882] or attain a passing score on the GACE Computer Science assessment, and meet the requirements for induction at GaPSC 505-2-.04; INDUCTION CERTIFICATE Experience Qualifications Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in the field of Special Needs required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing Classroom management skills Excellent organizational skills Proven communication and instructional strategies Working Conditions Classroom/lab/marketing environment (indoor or outdoor) Physical Demands Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds May require stooping or crouching Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance Category: CTAE Job Function: Teaching Department: INNOVATION ACADEMY CTAE Computer Science Teacher Nearest Major Market: Atlanta It is the policy of the Fulton County School System not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, or disability in any employment practice, educational program, or any other program, activity, or service.
